Anti Ragging Cell

Ragging as a practice is a strict offence in BVC College of Engineering. If anybody is found guilty of indulging in activities of this nature, strict action will be taken irrespective of the extent of the act. Ragging is banned by the Supreme Court of India and in order to prevent such kind of activity on campus, an anti-ragging committee has been formed and is operational before the start of First year classes by the Director/ Principal.

All the required laboratories have been established with state-of-the-art technology to impart up-to-date, advance knowledge to our students so that they are well equipped with the skills required to give consistent and best quality performance in their endeavour. We aim to establish the department as one of the prime departments in the faculty of engineering at JNTUK.

Say No To Ragging

Ragging is neither a means of familiarisation, nor an introduction with the new batch of students, instead a form of psychopath behaviour and is a violation of Human Rights.Ragging is a heinous crime and is heavily punishable under the law which will have detrimental effect on a student’s career.

Following behavior with freshers is tantamount to ragging :

Forcing students to address seniors as ‘Sir ‘
Forcing students to perform mass drills.
Forcing students to copy class notes for the seniors.
Forcing students to run various errands.
Forcing students to do menial jobs for the seniors.
Forcing students to ask/answer vulgar questions.
Forcing students to watch pornographic content
Forcing students to drink alcohol, scalding tea, smoking, etc.
Forcing students to perform acts which can lead to physical injury/ mental torture or death
Forcing students to perform acts with sexual overtones, including homosexual acts.

Punitive Measures for ragging

Depending on the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti-Ragging Committee of the College, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging shall be one or any combination of the following:

Cancellation of admission.
Suspension from attending classes.
Debarring from any test/examination or any other evaluation process
Collective punishment when individuals committing or abetting ragging are not identified.
Rigorous imprisonment and fine up to Rs. 2.5 Lakhs as per Law.

A cell with the following members has been reconstituted to look after the issues related to anti ragging. Ragging has several aspects with, among others, psychological, social, political, economic, cultural, and academic dimensions. The coordinator has been requested to call for meetings periodically with other members and report to the principal
