About Mechanical Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has been in existence since the inception of the institute (1997) with the objective of fulfilling the requirements of mechanical & allied industries and society at large. The Department started with an initial intake of 60 students in the UG Programme (B.Tech.). The Department has started its first PG Programme (M.Tech.) in Thermal Engineering (TE) with an intake of 18 in the year 2010 and another PG Programme in Advanced Manufacturing Systems (AMS) in the year 2012 with an intake of 18. The current intake for the UG Programme is 120 and one PG Programme in Advanced Manufacturing Systems (AMS) with an intake of 18 is being offered.  The Department was accredited twice by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. The Department is well known for its dedicated and experienced team of faculty & supporting staff. The Students of the department gain the required skill sets through innovative teaching and experiential learning, which make them, develop potential solutions for the problems of the Society. The Department offers skill / job-oriented courses, certification in emerging technologies, internships, field / industrial visits along with mandatory non-credit courses in humanities and life sciences in the curriculum for the holistic development of the student. In addition to the curriculum, students are encouraged to pursue certification through NPTEL / Swayam. Student clubs were introduced in the department, which offers an infinite number of opportunities for student leadership and participation beyond the classroom setup. Four student technical clubs: the 3D Printing Club, Design thinking Club, Robotics Club, and the automotive club have been conducting various activities in the department. 

The Department has established the “Applied Robotic Control” Lab in Association with Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and the European Centre for Mechatronics (ECM)-APS GmbH Aachen, Germany to train the students in the the emerging area: of Industrial Automation and Robotics. The Alumni of the Department was settled in reputed Government and public sector undertaking Organizations, Multi-National Companies and some of its Alumni have grown as entrepreneurs.
